Guatemala Literacy ProjectThe Cortland Rotary Club recently donated $500 to the Guatemala Literacy Project. The club has supported this worthy cause for Five years. Winning raffle tickets will be drawn on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. One ticket for $20, Two tickets for $30. The grand prize is dinner, a night Stay, & 18 holes of golf for 4 at the Avalon Grand Resort, and 24 or more additional prizes totaling a little more than $5,000, made up of gift cards in different increments from local restaurants.

As a fundraiser the Rotary Club of Cortland leases American Flags to Cortland and Bazetta residents from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. Their presentation focused on human trafficking and how these officers are always vigilantly working to stop this horrible crime. Afterwards, Mary Williams had the pleasure of taking him on a tour of Cortland, where he got to visit some of the many projects our club has sponsored in the past. JULY 11TH GUEST SPEAKEROur Tuesday, July 11th club meeting guest speaker will be Daniel Moore. Daniel Moore is a patriotic, USAF Cold War veteran, humanitarian, Independent political activist, USW union member, blue collar steelworker and a creative, innovative solution oriented problem solver and social entrepreneur. He has some college education in economics and business. Mr. Moore has received a large amount of media attention due to his volunteer work for the Trump campaign and his April 28, 2017 dinner and conversation with billionaire philanthropist Mark Zuckerberg and his staff in his Newton Falls, Ohio home. He is an advocate for nuclear disarmament and encourages world leaders and his fellow citizens to move beyond traditional ways of thinking to help solve our monumental problems in a timely manner. Daniel is a critic of Keynesian economic theories along with a growing number of supporters who are demanding systemic change and bold, daring, new ideas and revolutionary micro and macro economic initiatives. |

Cortland Rotary Howl at the Moon 5K Race
The Rotary Club of Cortland will be hosting the 17th annual Howl at the Moon 5K Night Race, returning to its original Night Flight Race format on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The event will take place at Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Drive, Cortland, Ohio in conjunction with the Rotary Club, the school, and our sponsors. The 5K will start at 9 PM with an awards ceremony, door prizes, food, and entertainment following. Proceeds from this annual event will benefit the various community projects for which the Rotary Club of Cortland provides much needed funding. Examples of Cortland Rotary past contributions are: College scholarships to Lakeview High School Seniors, Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Visit from Santa Clause, Boy Scouts (Eagle Project), Trumbull Art Gallery, The Splash Pad at Pearl Par, Cortland Area Cares (CAC); Rotary Park; Rotary Youth Exchange Students; Warren Family Mission, Someplace Safe, LOAF, and many more community projects. |

Community Easter Egg Hunt The Community Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday April 8. Cortland Rotary will be parking cars at 10:00 and will be done by 11:00. If you are planning on attending the District Conference that day, that should still allow you time to do both. We will need about 5 Rotarians to help with the parking - then off you go. |

Are You Smarter Than A Second Grader![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At our Tuesday meeting, Mrs. Denman from Cortland Elementary spoke us how our students are being taught 21 Century learning skills by participating in weekly projects that induce creative thinking skills. She challenged us to see which team could create the tallest tower using tape, string, spaghetti noodles, and a marshmello for the top.

We will be joining the Lakeview Marching Band as they lead the Cortland Halloween Parade to Lakeview High School. Cortland Rotary will be providing donuts and cider to share with the all the little ghosts and ghouls. Your help will be appreciated as we meet at 5:00 on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Lakeview High School.

2015 Cortland Rotary Golf ClassicThe 2015 Cortland Rotary Golf Classic is Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Tamer Win Golf Course. The cost is $80 person and includes 18 holes, carts, mulligans, skins game, lunch, refreshments and dinner.

Santa and Mrs. Claus To Visit Cortland Area KidsSanta and Mrs. Clause will arrive by a Cortland City Fire Truck on Saturday, December 13th to the Cortland Opera House. They will be there from 12:00 noon to 2:00 in the afternoon. There will be hot chocolate and cookies, and the kids will be able to make a craft, and receive a coloring book and candy canes. Come join us as we ring in the season and create wonderful memories. |

Fly the Flag Program The Cortland Rotary Club Invites You To Join Your Friends and Neighbors in Cortland & Bazetta, in displaying the American Flag. When you lease a flag from the Cortland Rotary Club, you will get to display an American Flag on six major holidays:
...and we'll do all the work for you! When you lease a flag, we will insert a PVC plastic sleeve, along with a cap, in the ground in your front yard. No brackets or fixtures are attached to your home. On each of the six holidays listed, a 3' x 5' American Flag mounted on a 10-foot metal pole is placed in the sleeve. We purchase the flags, display, store and maintain them. It is all done for you! The flags remain the property of the Cortland Rotary Club. May - Designated as Cortland Rotary MonthOn April 24, 2007 the Mayor of Cortland, Curt Moll, presented our Club with a Proclamation to officially designate May as Cortland Rotary Month within the City of Cortland and recognize our Club's efforts within our community. Cortland Rotary will be holding their Annual Clothing and Canned Food Drive on Make A Difference Day. Bring your clean clothes and canned goods on October, 27, 2012 to the Lakeview High School front bus garage. (300 Hillman Drive, Cortland, OH 44410). A raffle ticket will be given for each bag of clothing donated. Join us for coffee and donuts, 9:00 - 1:00. The items collected will be donated to the Warren Family Mission.
